North Macedonia’s Foreign Minister Timco Mucunski has stated that the country is not prepared at this stage to proceed with constitutional amendments linked to its European integration process, stressing that the issue remains politically and institutionally unresolved.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset during his first official visit to North Macedonia, Mucunski said there is currently no domestic or external environment that would allow such a step. He emphasized that relations with Bulgaria remain marked by a lack of trust regarding the implementation of previous commitments.

“In this context, our country is not ready for constitutional changes. There should be no doubt about this,” Mucunski said, adding that existing conditions do not support moving forward on the matter.
