In line with the bilateral agreement between Iraq and the United States, US soldiers began withdrawing from the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Saturday.

Sources told Al-Arabiya News on Friday that US forces would withdraw from Baghdad’s Green Zone, a strongly defended neighborhood that includes diplomatic facilities and government headquarters, as well as Baghdad International Airport and the main base of the Joint Operations Command.

According to the agreement reached between the Iraqi and US parties in 2024, the US is anticipated to keep some troops in [Kurdish Regional Government of Iraq] for another year.
