The US State Department confirmed on Tuesday that President Donald Trump supports Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi's vision for building a strong Iraqi-American partnership, noting that Iraq has embarked on a new path under al-Zaidi's leadership in full cooperation with the United States.

State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said in a statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "President Donald Trump made it clear during his historic meeting with Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi on July 14 that the United States strongly supports his vision to ensure a brighter future for all Iraqis, prevent attacks within or originating from Iraq, and build a strong and mutually beneficial US-Iraqi partnership."
