The sixth of the 2026 Ömer Engin Lütem Conferences was held on Tuesday, 6 October 2026. During the conference, Prof. Dr. Nejla Günay shared information presented in her work entitled “Turks and Armenians from Gümrü to Lausanne”.

During the conference, Prof. Dr. Nejla Günay examined the period from Gümrü to Lausanne in light of archival documents and presented previously unexamined documents concerning the unfounded nature of the allegations made by Armenians against Türkiye. A note submitted to the Turkish delegation during the Gümrü negotiations by Hatisyan, one of the prime ministers of Dashnak Armenia, contains information on the Armenian population, revealing the number of Armenians living in different parts of the world. Documents held in the Archives of the League of Nations also support these findings. Drawing on her work titled “Turks and Armenians from Gümrü to Lausanne”, Prof. Dr. Günay assessed the data provided by these documents regarding the Armenian population and the developments of the period, discussing their significance in relation to Armenian allegations and the historical evidence they offer in support of Turkish arguments. According to the presentation, this information refutes Armenian allegations and demonstrates the validity of Türkiye’s position.

The conference concluded following a Q&A session.
