The Covid-19 pandemic has obliged all of us to take the necessary measures with respect to social distancing. For this reason, from October onwards, the Center for Eurasian Studies (AVİM) will continue its conferences, panels, and workshops that it has been carrying on for years in the virtual space. We regard transitioning to the virtual space rather as an opportunity than an undesirable burden. We are excited to have the opportunity to share our work with a wider audience via the virtual space that renders physical distances irrelevant.

Our first virtual event will be the web-conference titled “Ermeni Sorununu Anlamak: Malta Yargılamaları 1919-1921” (“Understanding the Armenian Question: Malta Trials 1919-1921”) at which Former Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and eminent journalist Uluç Gürkan will be the main speaker. This web-conference will be held within the framework of Ömer Engin Lüten Lectures on 8 October 2020. Following that, the second Ömer Engin Lütem Lectures web-conference will host Prof. Dr. Kemal Çiçek on 22 October 2020. Prof. Dr. Çiçek will make a presentation titled “Musa Dağı 1915: Bir İsyan mı Direniş mi?” (“Musa Dagh 1915: An Insurgency or a Resistance?”).

Stay tuned for our events that will be held via the Zoom platform.
