Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said there is strong political will on both sides to modernise the Customs Union between Türkiye and the European Union, but the process is not moving at the desired pace because of a blockage by the Greek Cypriot administration.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ceenbek Kulubayev, Fidan said both Türkiye and the European Union are eager to update the Customs Union framework.

"The Greek Cypriot side has imposed a certain blockage on this issue, which is preventing progress at the desired pace," Fidan said.
