The Foreign Ministry has welcomed the statement issued by Türkiye's Foreign Ministry following UN Secretary-General António Guterres' visit to the Island of Cyprus, reaffirming that a settlement on the island is only possible on the basis of the Turkish Cypriot people's sovereign equality and equal international status.

In a written statement, the ministry said it welcomed the position outlined by the Turkish Foreign Ministry after Guterres' contacts in the Island of Cyprus.

The ministry argued that revisiting solution models that have been discussed for decades and repeatedly failed is incompatible with the current realities on the island.
