The sixth joint meeting of the Emergency Situations Ministries of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan took place in Bosteri, Issyk-Kul region, August 14 as part of a regional forum of Central Asian emergency agencies.

Chaired by Kyrgyz Minister Boobek Azhikeev and Kazakh Minister Chyngyz Arinov, the meeting discussed cooperation to reduce natural disaster risks in border areas.

In 2009, the Ministries reached an agreement on the practical implementation of Kyrgyz-Kazakh cooperation in the field of disaster prevention and response.
