The Martyrs Foundation confirmed on Sunday the completion of cleaning operations around Al-Khasfa Cemetery and the protection of evidence, noting that all recovered remains will be handed over to the Forensic Medicine Department for final examinations.

Diaa Kareem, Director General of Mass Graves at the Martyrs Foundation, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “the Martyrs Foundation analyzed aerial images of the Al-Khasfa Cemetery site and developed a roadmap to begin work around the cemetery, in coordination with the Forensic Medicine Department at the Ministry of Health and the International Commission on Missing Persons.”

He added, “Today marks the official announcement of the completion of cleaning operations around the cemetery, and the protection of evidence and recovered remains, which were handed over to the Forensic Medicine Department through official handover records for laboratory examinations and subsequent victim identification updates.”
