Japanese and Ukrainian foreign ministers affirmed their respective nations’ commitment to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation, including in the field of security.

“Japan stands with Ukraine, and that policy remains unwavering,” Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi told his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, during a meeting in Tokyo on July 1.

At a joint news conference, Sybiha said Japan and Ukraine share the recognition that the security of their two regions is inseparable, referring to military cooperation between Russia and North Korea.
