Japan can also be instrumental in supporting ASEAN to enhance stability, peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region, said its envoy to the bloc Masahiko Kiya during an interview with CNA’s Chandni Vatvani.

Japan is invested in deepening ties with ASEAN to the tune of more than US$250 million in funds for cultural exchanges over the next decade, its ambassador to the regional grouping said.

Calling the bloc a “trusted partner”, Japan’s envoy to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Masahiko Kiya said the two-way relationship has blossomed since dialogue was formalised in 1977.
