Iraq's Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency (INA), affirmed that Iraqi-American relations remain solid, built on historical and strategic foundations.

He added that “Iraq and the United States are linked by a series of comprehensive understandings and agreements covering multiple areas, including energy, economy, culture, education, and health, alongside security and military cooperation. Following the incursion of ISIS terrorist groups into Iraq in 2014, Washington took the initiative to form and lead the international coalition in support of Iraq’s fight against terrorism, a move that reflects the depth of bilateral relations.”

He noted that “the current U.S. administration is prioritizing issues related to its relations with China, Russia, and Ukraine, as well as domestic affairs. Meanwhile, Iraq is experiencing a period of stability and security, fundamentally different from the post-regime era marked by terrorism and the war on al-Qaeda and ISIS.”
