IRAQ AND WHO STRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIP

The Iraqi Ministry of Health stressed on Tuesday the importance of strengthening partnership and cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), as it contributes to improving the quality of health services to citizens.

The Minister of Health Salih al-Hasnawi chaired a meeting with a high-level delegation from WHO, headed by the organization's representative in Iraq, Jamila al-Raaebi, with the participation of experts from the WHO’s office in Egypt and the main office in Geneva, and the presence of the Director General of the Public Health Department, Riyadh al-Hilfi, and the Director of Ibn Sina Training Hospital, Yasser al-Tamimi, at Ibn Sina Hospital in the capital, Baghdad, accordign to a statement by the Ministry of Health received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

The two sides discussed several topics during the meeting, most notably the implementation of the health insurance law in Iraq, the progress made in primary healthcare services, the inclusion of health institutions in health insurance services, as well as the expansion of medical services through the opening of hospitals and health centers, and the provision of modern medicines and medical equipment.
