Former Czech prime minister Andrej Babiš and MEP Jana Nagyová are set to face a new trial over allegations of EU subsidy fraud, following the Prague High Court's decision to overturn their earlier acquittal.

The case concerns a €2 million EU grant intended to support small and medium-sized businesses. Prosecutors allege that the Čapí hnízdo (“Stork’s Nest”) farm near Prague fraudulently obtained the money.

According to investigators, the farm was temporarily removed from Babiš’s Agrofert holding to appear independent, making it eligible for the subsidy, and then quietly returned to the company’s control once the funds were secured.
