As part of an Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers and the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council) in Baku, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met with his counterpart from Uzbekistan, Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, the parties highlighted the importance of developing cooperation in the political, economic, trade, transport, cultural and other fields between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

Noting the need for increasing trade between the countries, the foreign ministers of the two countries mentioned the important role in this aspect of holding the next meeting of the Commission on Intergovernmental Cooperation.

The ministers emphasized that mutual visits, including high-level ones, are an important impetus for the further development of the relations.

The sides also discussed issues of cooperation between the two countries within international organizations.

Mammadyarov expressed gratitude to his colleague for the principled position that Uzbekistan demonstrates on international platforms in the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

During the meetings, the parties also exchanged views on the agenda for cooperation within the Turkic Council.
