Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Faig Guliyev met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on 14 August to discuss bilateral relations and the further development of the two countries’ strategic partnership.

The talks focused on the current level of bilateral cooperation and prospects for further expansion. The sides attached particular importance to agreements signed during Kobakhidze’s recent official engagement in Baku, which cover areas of direct relevance to Georgia-Azerbaijan economic and infrastructure cooperation.

The meeting takes place as the two countries continue to deepen cooperation in energy, transport and regional connectivity. During Kobakhidze’s May visit to Baku, Georgia and Azerbaijan signed agreements on natural gas supplies, electricity supplies and the transit of electricity through Georgian territory, as well as a protocol concerning the rehabilitation and construction of the railway section connecting Marabda with the Turkish border as part of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project.
