AVİM'S Note: It has been a tradition that almost every state official who is visiting Armenia also visits the "Genocide Memorial". As can be seen from Lavrov's last visit to Armenia, this tradition has not been fulfilled. Lavrov sent a wreath to the memorial, but did not visit it. Considering the recent developments, Lavrov's refrain from visiting the memorial is noteworthy and his stance -in a roundabout way- aligns with Pashinyan’s questioning of the genocide narrative.

Rumors have circulated on social media alleging that the visit to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial was removed from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s program in Armenia at the initiative of the Armenian side.
