Russia’s ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopyrkin, was summoned to Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The move followed Vladimir Solovyov’s remarks about the possibility of a military operation in the country.

A few days earlier, the propagandist said on air that Russia, as the United States did in Venezuela, should consider the option of interfering in the internal affairs of Central Asian states and Armenia “without violating international law” to prevent them from leaving Russia’s sphere of influence. He argued that “events in Armenia would be even more painful than in Venezuela. Losing Armenia would be a major problem.”

Armenia’s Foreign Ministry handed the Russian ambassador a note expressing deep dissatisfaction with the statements aired on a state TV channel. The ministry said such remarks do not align with friendly cooperation between Moscow and Yerevan.
