Iraqi Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi stressed on Monday the need to increase water releases and ensure Iraq's adequate share stipulated in relevant international agreements.

Al-Mandalawi received at his guest house on Monday the Head of the Iraqi Department at the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Ali Reza Koni, and the accompanying diplomatic delegation, to discuss political developments on the local scene and developments in the regional scene and their impact on the countries of the region, in addition to discussing several files and issues of common interest, according to the media office of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

He stressed "the need to develop real and urgent solutions to the water issue, as it affects Iraq's security, the lives of its people, and the future of its people. This should be achieved by increasing the volume of water releases and ensuring Iraq's adequate share stipulated in relevant international agreements and laws, as well as activating the role of the joint government committees concerned with this issue to reach radical and just scientific solutions."
