The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) affirmed Iraq's solidarity with Sudan following the landslide in Darfur.

"MOFA expresses its deep sorrow and grief over the humanitarian disaster that occurred in the Jebel Marra area in the Darfur region of the brotherly Republic of Sudan, as a result of the landslide caused by heavy rains, which resulted in hundreds of casualties, including deaths and injuries," said the Ministry in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

The statement added, "The Ministry extends its sincere condolences and sincere sympathy to the government and people of the brotherly Republic of Sudan, and to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured, and mercy and peace for the souls of the victims in this great tragedy."
