Turkish American National Steering Committee (24 October 2019)

On April 8, 2019, Representative Adam Schiff catered to nationalist elements in the Armenian American community by introducing House Resolution 296 which legislates a criminal conviction of the high crime of genocide against Turkey and Americans of Turkish heritage for events that occurred during the Ottoman Empire in World War I more than a hundred years ago.

H.Res.296 is the first step in a massive class action for reparations for ancient claims and restitutions of lands, against not only Turkey but private citizens. 

Currently H.Res.296 has 113 House of Representatives co-sponsors, more than half of whom are from California, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts where an aggressive Armenian lobby exerts its orthodox view of history. While emotions run high, Schiff and Speaker Pelosi are manipulating the circumstances to introduce H.Res.296 for a floor vote next week.
