KYRGYZ AND KAZAKH FMS MEET IN NUR-SULTAN

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev held a bilateral meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Mukhtar Tleuberdi as part of his working visit to Nur-Sultan.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Kazakh foreign minister congratulated Kazakbaev on his appointment as head of the Foreign Ministry of the Kyrgyz Republic and wished him success in further fruitful work.

Kazakbaev informed about the gradual stabilization of the situation in the country and the return of political processes to the constitutional field, and also assured that the Kyrgyz side remains fully committed to all its international obligations and strict implementation of all previously signed bilateral and multilateral international treaties. He especially noted that the Kyrgyz government will take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of foreign investments, including Kazakhstani ones, in accordance with the legislation.

During the talks, the heads of the foreign ministries of the two countries exchanged views on an extensive agenda of Kyrgyz-Kazakh cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and migration spheres. The sides discussed current topics of multilateral cooperation within the framework of international, regional and integration organizations, and also considered issues of joint counteraction to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Kyrgyz minister asked the Kazakh side to consider the possibility of rendering assistance in providing the Kyrgyz side with free medicines and personal protective equipment for the needs of the Ministry of Health.

Also, taking into account the socio-economic situation in the country, Minister Kazakbaev asked to consider the possibility of providing financial and technical assistance to the Kyrgyz side.

The heads of the foreign affairs agencies of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan noted the importance of further maintaining a stable situation on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border to create favorable conditions for freight carriers, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

Also, the Kyrgyz side offered the Kazakh side to create joint trade and logistics centers in the border areas for the export of agricultural products, as well as for the transit of goods.

The sides paid special attention to the discussion of issues of interaction in the water and energy sector.

At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed confidence that the Kyrgyz-Kazakh allied relations and strategic partnership will continue to grow stronger and develop in the interests of the peoples of the two fraternal countries.
